January Wrap Up

As January comes to an end and a new month is right around the corner, I want to share my January journey and my progress.
Thank you to everyone who took the time out to stop by my blog. I hope you read something that inspired you to stop by again and share your thoughts.

At the start of January, I mentioned that my word for 2016 was going to be "Challenge" posted here. Challenge is about growing and learning to discipline yourself. It wasn't easy, but I am happy with the progress that I made. So here are the details.

  • Eating healthy - I stayed the course. I ate healthy the entire month. On the weekends I cooked two meals and meal prepped on Sundays, taking my breakfast, lunch and snack to work with me. When I got home in the evenings, I just had to reheat  and dinner was ready. My struggles kicked in at the end of the third week. I craved, anything sweet  - cookies, candy, pastries. To satisfy this craving I allowed myself one piece of individually wrapped candy, my favorite is Reese's peanut butter cup. I savored each bite and it did the trick. 
          I am still researching and straddling the fence about going down the vegan road. Maybe
          next month after I am done with my research I will make a decision.
  • Working Out - I made it to the gym four days out of a five day work week. I chose Wednesday as my day off. Saturday and Sunday, I am still working on disciplining myself to use my free weights at home on the days that I don't go to the gym. Discipline is the key word here. 
  • Blogging - I am proud of myself that I was able to make 11 blog post this month. It wasn't easy, even though I had a schedule and blogging topics. Just finding the time to sit down to write was the challenge. Working full-time 5 days a work, adding in 4 days at the gym after work and getting home late doesn't leave much time for anything. But where there is a will, there is a way. I will make it work. 
  • Spiritual Exercise - I had to change my schedule around for this. Doing a quiet time in the morning during the week didn't work out for me. I couldn't get out of the bed before 5:30 a.m. On the weekend it worked out fine, since I didn't have to get up as early. I think the evening is better for me but I need to set a schedule and discipline myself to get ready for bed and allow enough time to feed my soul before falling asleep. I managed two - three days during the week but my goal is to do this everyday. I am working on it and I know I will get there. 

February's Goals

Discipline - Training to act in accordance

  • Exercise the key word "Discipline".  Discipline is needed in order to achieve goals that you set. 
  1. Continue to eat healthy
  2. Discipline to work out at least one extra day on the weekend with my free weights. 
  3. Use my weekends to write and schedule blog post for the week. 
  4. Discipline myself and commit to my evening quiet times increasing to four nights during the week.
