Reflecting - 2015

Its that time of the year again, when I reflect over this past year. If I had to use two words to describe my journey it would be "Change" and "Challenge.  Changes and Challenges are both part of life, they can't be avoided. I have learned throughout my life to embrace them and learn from the journey

CHALLENGES:

Healthy Eating

In the beginning of 2015 I started my healthy eating journey. After being on this journey for 4 months and saw the benefits of eating wholesome foods. I challenged by self to go a step further and eliminate all meats and seafood from my diet and just consume only fruits, vegetables and grains. I started my journey April 1 and ended April 21 with much success. It was not an easy journey, but I ended this challenge learning a lot about myself - self control, discipline, focus and planning.

CHANGES:

Laid Off

I was called into a meeting and handed my pink slip in August, my last work day would be the middle of October. I instantly felt a burden lifted off my shoulders. I walked out of that meeting with a smile on my face. People around me couldn't understand my happiness.

As the saying goes, "this was not my first rodeo". I know where my help comes from, my faith is deeply grounded in the Lord. I know God always has a plan and his timing is perfect.  To make a long story short, my last day was 10/15. I started a new job on 10/16. -I exercised my faith, had patience, trust that gods timing is perfect - cast my cares and continue to live my life because God has it all under control.

My Hair

Working out 3 - 4 days a week and maintaining my hair was becoming a real problem for me. I made a quick decision one day to chop it all off. I refused to be held hostage by my hair. It was the most liberating thing that I have done in a long time and I have not looked back. I am in love with my short hair.

New Blog

I am not new to blogging I have had several blogs, that were niche blogs - specific toward DIY sewing and crafty.  I was never consistent with keeping up with my blog post or visiting other blogs. I would start out fine then quicker lost interest and I couldn't figure out why. I labeled myself lazy and a procrastinator but that was far from the problem.

One day as I was reading a paragraph in one of my self improvement books and this line knocked me right in the head " you have love what you do in order to be consistent and successful at it". The light bulb went on, I didn't enjoy blogging about sewing and crafting. I had to separate the two. I enjoy sewing and crafting but I have no interest or desire to blog about it. From following several lifestyle bloggers, I realized I need variety, I need to be able to blog about whatever is on my mind, not locked into one specific niche. henceforth, this blog was born.

So this was some of the highlights of my Journey through 2015.

No partying for me tonight, I will be on my knees thanking God for bringing me through 2015 and praying for a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

Have a Happy New Year everyone!
