Reflecting - 2015
Its that time of the year again, when I reflect over this past year. If I had to use two words to describe my journey it would be "Change" and "Challenge. Changes and Challenges are both part of life, they can't be avoided. I have learned throughout my life to embrace them and learn from the journey

Healthy Shrimp and Pasta Dish
When I grocery shop for the week, there are certain products that I consider staple ingredients that I always purchase or have in the freezer at home for a quick week night meal for the family and shrimp is definitely one of them. One of the things that I love about using shrimp is that it thaws quickly and it doesn't require much cooking time.
On any given night when I get home from work, I can easily whip up a quick and healthy meal using shrimp and any other ingredients on hand.
I love healthy, simple and quick meals that are filling and delicious. For this dish, I didn't follow a recipe, I just used the ingredients that I had on hand to create this yummy meal.

Spiritual Exercise for the Heart and Soul
It's the holiday season and I hope everyone is enjoying their time off from work and having fun with family and friends. It feels so good to be off from work for 4 days. I get to rest my mind, body and soul, put the daily routines to the side and focus on doing what I want to do.
This morning I woke up and just felt the need to spent time reading and meditating on the word. I reserve my quiet time for the evenings during the week and on the weekend since I don' t have to get up early my quiet time is more flexible.

Plaid and Denim
Hi Everyone, It's suppose to be fall and I just can't believe how mild the weather is here in NYC. I am not complaining, just enjoying it for as long as it last.
I picked up this top while out shopping a few weeks ago at one of my favorite retailer, Banana Republic Factory Store. I love this store for the fit and quality of their clothing. The color combination just drew me in, I know I had the right pieces at home to create the perfect outfit.
I love the colors and the fabric. It's not your typical flannel or cotton plaid shirt. The fabric is a sheer, light weight polyester which makes for good draping on the body and styling options. The color combination is just beautiful. The Fuchsia and orange provides just enough pop against the dark blue and denim like pattern.
I paired this shirt with dark denim jeans by Joe Fresh and a light weight quilted vest from Old Navy.

About Me
Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by A Dash of Midlife. My name is Lucy, I reside in NYC. I am a mom to an awesome teenage daughter who will be heading off to college in 2016 to pursue her dreams.
I created this Life Style blog to write
about my journey on this road call mid-life. This journey for me is about
change, adapting, self improvement and embracing all things that comes with
this stage of life.
I work full-time in the accounting field but I have a love
for fashion and sewing my own clothes. Sewing my own clothes gives a sense of
accomplishment when I finish a garment that I am able to wear. I was introduced
to sewing as a kid, my mother sewed for herself and my siblings. My love for
fashion and sewing has stuck with me all my life. I knit and crochet
occasionally, mostly dishcloths, quick and simple projects.
Please come and
join me on my journey as I share a dash of my mid-life. Thanks
